Erasmus Mundus

The Erasmus Mundus programme is a cooperation and mobility programme of the European Union in the field of higher education which promotes the European Union as a center of excellence in learning around the world. It aims to enhance quality in European higher education and to promote intercultural understanding through co-operation with third-countries. The programme persues its aims by supporting high-quality European Masters Courses, by enabling students and visiting scholars from around the world to engage in postgraduate study at European universities, as well as by encouraging the outgoing mobility of European students and scholars towards third-countries.

Erasmus Mundus scholarship: in order to give the Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses a strong external projection, the EU elaborated a scholarship scheme for excellent third-country (i.e. non-European) graduate students and scholars from the whole world. The Erasmus Mundus scholarship for non-European students amounts to 24,000 EUR plus a fixed amount of 5,000 EUR for travel expenses. European students admitted to the programme may not apply for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship, but will be granted a scholarship (4,800 EUR) by the consortium. EMCL tuition fees for both European and non-European students are 7,500 EUR. Visiting scholars receive 12,000 EUR (i.e. 4,000 EUR per month) plus a fixed amount of 1,000 EUR for travel expenses.
